A 48-year-old Milwaukee man is facing charges after he tried to break into a Greenfield store, but cut himself on broken glass and left.

On Sept. 26, Smith and another person threw a concrete block through a window at Fox River Mart Clark, 4621 W. Forest Home Ave., in an effort to get inside the business and steal. The window, however, was made of double pane glass and as Smith was trying to climb through, a piece of glass cut him, causing him to bleed so he and the other person left.

Police arrived shortly after the incident and discovered the blood. A DNA test revealed it was Smith’s. He later confessed to the crime to investigators.
