This Thanksgiving, a 16-year-old Greenfield boy might not be all that thankful for his parents who turned him in to Greenfield police and pressed charges after he admitted to stealing his father’s handgun.
But plenty of people likely are.
According to the Greenfield Police Department report, the Greenfield mother and father brought their 16-year-old son to the police station last Wednesday after the boy told them he stole the Colt King Cobra .357 magnum revolver one day earlier and traded it to a friend for four grams of marijuana.
The parents told police the boy’s father was rounding up his deer hunting supplies and when he went to pick up a case that was supposed to contain the pistol, it felt light. When he opened the case, the gun was gone.
