Phony Sports 'Journalist' Charged Again

Gary Medrow of Greenfield was charged with telephone harassment and disorderly conduct for trying to get a high school athlete and her friend to participate in a photo shoot.

A 69-year-old Greenfield man with a long history of odd behavior was charged with disorderly conduct for the third time in four months, this time in Waukesha County Court on March 22.

According to court documents, Gary Medrow, was charged with disorderly conduct and telephone harassment, stemming from an incident police say happened Nov. 13.

On that date, according to the criminal complaint, Medrow called a 16-year-old Arrowhead High School student-athlete, who was on the school’s golf team. Medrow told the student his name was Mike Clark and that he was with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Medrow asked the girl if she was available for a photo shoot with her friend and if she’d be able to hold her friend on her back for up to three minutes during the shoot. The girl became suspicious of the line of questioning and hung up. When she told her parents about the call, an internet search showed Medrow has a long history of making similar requests.

Medrow admitted to Village of Hartland police he made the call.

Medrow, who lives in the 5200 block of South Tuckaway Boulevard, was charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct in Milwaukee County Circuit Court on Jan. 22, two days after police responded to a disturbance at his apartment and found a knife stuck in a wall.

Back in December, Medrow was charged in Ozaukee County Court with two telephone harassment charges as well as two misdemeanor disorderly conduct charges after police say he pretended to be a photographer with the intent to take photos of Cedarburg High School cheerleaders.
