Police Blotter: Encyclopedia Saleswoman Allegedly Takes Wedding Ring

This and other reports from the Greenfield Police Department from July 11-16.

A woman allegedly stole a wedding ring when a home owner let her into a house in the 5000 block of South 58th Street at 5:30 p.m. July 14.

The woman came to the door selling encyclopedias and told the homeowner that she needed to use the bathroom. While in the bathroom, the woman took the ring that was in the bathroom.

The following are more incidents reported in the department's police log from July 11-16:

  • A 17-year-old man was taken into custody when an officer allegedly found a marijuana pipe on him after he asked for a ride in the 5300 block of South 76th Street at 12:30 a.m. July 11.
  • A 47-year-old man was taken into custody for allegedly driving drunk in the 5300 block of 76th Street at 1:15 a.m. July 11. It would be the man's fourth offense. 
  • A 17-year-old man was taken into custody for allegedly burning his girlfriend's mother's property in the backyard of a residence in the 5000 block of South 34th Street at 8 p.m. July 11. 
  • A 23-year-old man was taken into custody for allegedly driving drunk in the 3600 block of South 103rd Street at 1 a.m. July 13. 
  • A red 2004 Dodge Neon was taken from the 3900 block of South Sunset Square at about 2:15 a.m. July 13. 
  • A 21-year-old man was taken into custody for alleged possession of marijuana during a traffic stop in the 7800 block of West Cold Spring Road at 10:45 p.m. July 13. 
  • A GPS was taken from a vehicle in the 4200 block of South 122nd Street. The theft was reported at 7:45 a.m. July 14.
  • A purse was stolen from the , 5020 S. 110th St., on July 14. The theft was reported at 6:30 p.m.
  • A pair of sunglasses were stolen from a vehicle in the 4100 block of South 60th Street during the evening of Jule 14. 
  • A half a dozen CDs and a black CD case were stolen from a vehicle in the 4200 block of South 64th Street during the evening of July 14.
  • A video game was stolen from a vehicle in the 4400 block of South 66th Street during the early morning hours of July 15.
  • A 31-year-old woman was taken into custody for alleged retail theft at , 4601 S. 27th St., at 11:30 a.m. July 15. 
  • A 24-year-old man was taken into custody for alleged retail theft at , 4610 S. 76th St., at 1:30 p.m. July 15. 
  • A 40-year-old man was taken into custody for alleged possession of drug paraphernalia in the 4500 block of South 84th Street at 4:30 p.m. July 15.
  • A 53-year-old man was taken into custody for alleged drunk driving in the 4600 block of South 27th Street at 5:15 p.m. July 16.
  • A 20-year-old woman was taken into custody for alleged disorderly conduct and under-aged drinking in the 5000 block of South Greenbrook Terrace at 10:30 p.m. July 16. The woman was allegedly passed out under a tree.
