Police Blotter: $14,000 Pair of Earrings Stolen from Local Jeweler

That and other reports from the Greenfield Police Department from March 21-27.

Police are investigating the theft of a $14,000 pair of earrings that were stolen from Robert Haack Diamond Importers, 7530 W. Layton Ave., March 19.

Police also advised several teens during the afternoon of March 24 after they were seen mooning other motorists and pedestrians as they drove.

The following are more incidents reported in the department's police log from March 21-27:

  • A Division of Public Works official reported graffiti on a pedestrian crossing sign in the northbound lane in the 4400 block of South 51st Street at 8 a.m. March 21.
  • A 16-year-old boy was taken into custody for alleged retail theft at Pick n' Save, 4200 S. 76th St., at 4:30 p.m. March 21. The boy was booked, cited and released to a parent.
  • A 43-year-old man was taken into custody for alleged retail theft at Pick n' Save, 4200 S. 76th St., at 6:15 p.m. March 21. The man was booked, cited and released to the Oak Creek Police Department on a warrant.
  • A 36-year-old man was taken into custody after allegedly shoplifting at Big KMart, 4601 S. 27th St., at 3 p.m. March 22. The man fled in a vehicle, which was stopped at Layton Avenue and the expressway. 
  • A 19-year-old woman was taken into custody for alleged stealing from Target, 4777 S. 27th St., at 4:15 p.m. March 22. The police report described the woman as a store employee.
  • A GPS was stolen from a 1992 Honda Civic in the 4600 block of South 76th Street between 3:45 and 10:45 p.m. March 22.
  • A 36-year-old man was taken into custody for disorderly conduct after allegedly threatening a woman who was waiting for court in the lobby of the police station at 5300 W. Layton Ave., at 9 a.m. March 23. The man was booked, cited and released. 
  • A residence was broken into on the 9000 block of West Waterford Square during the day March 23. Police reported nothing was stolen. Entry was gained to the residence through a patio door after a lock was broken.
  • A 42-year-old man was taken into custody for disorderly conduct after allegedly threatening to fight his son in the 5400 block of West Cold Spring Road at 9 p.m. March 23. The man, who was intoxicated, was booked, cited and released. 
  • A jacket, laptop bag and several items were taken from a 2009 Chevy Impala in the 4100 block of West Carpenter Avenue. The theft was reported at 8:30 a.m. March 24.
  • A tool bag was taken from a vehicle owned by Best Buy, 4610 S. 76th St. at 2:45 p.m. March 18. The theft was reported March 24.
  • A female passenger reportedly got out of a vehicle and urinated in the parking lot of McDonald's, 5040 S. 76th St., at 2 a.m. March 25. Police found the vehicle and cited the driver for speeding. 
  • A teacher at Ebenezer Child Care Center, 6921 W. Cold Spring Rd., was advised after a small pupil dialed 911 and said hello with a phone he left unattended.
  • A 47-year-old man and a 61-year-old man were taken into custody for alleged retail theft at Big KMart, 4601 S. 27 St., at 1:30 p.m. March 25. The men were also cited for alleged disorderly conduct.
  • Several bottles of medication were taken from a residence in the 7300 block of West Southridge Drive between 7:30 p.m. March 25 and 2 a.m. March 26. Entry was gained through a child's bedroom window. A curtain was pulled down from a wall and dressers were gone through. 
  • Two men were seen in dark clothing unscrewing a lightbulb on a motion light by a resident in the 4400 block of South 47th Street at 2:30 a.m. March 26. The men left the area after the resident tapped on a window. 
  • A 19-year-old man was taken into custody for alleged drunken driving in the 4700 block of Cold Spring Avenue at 2:30 a.m. March 26. The man was booked and cited.
  • A 50-year-old woman was taken into custody for obstructing justice and attempting to file a false police report after she came to the police station to report her medication was stolen while at Best Buy. According to police, the woman was trying to get more pills. The woman was booked, cited and released.
  • A 20-year-old man was taken into custody for alleged possession of narcotics during a traffic stop at the corner of South 76th Street and West Cold Spring Road at 9:15 p.m. March 26. The man was a passenger in the vehicle that stopped. He was booked, cited and released.
  • A 19-year-old man was taken into custody for alleged retail theft at Big KMart, 4601 S. 27th St., at 6 p.m. March 27. The man was booked, cited and released.
