Police Blotter: Scavenging Through a Dumpster, Stolen Crown Victoria and More

These incidents were reported to the Greenfield Police Department last week.

If you shoplifted from a store, one would think that you'd want to drive or run as far away from that place after committing the crime.

Apparently these boys didn't get the memo.

A employee reported a 17-year-old boy allegedly concealed a pair of headphones and fled the store with two other teenage boys at approximately 2 p.m. Feb. 2.

A short time later, all three subjects were located by the Greenfield Police Department inside , mere steps away from where the alleged offense occurred, and the offender was booked, cited and released for obstructing and retail theft.

The following are more reports from the log for Jan. 30 through Feb. 5.

  • Three males fled , 6231 S. 27th Street, allegedly without paying their bill at 1:05 p.m. Jan. 30.
  • A 53-year-old woman was advised to seek permission from after being caught scavenging through the business’s dumpster at 4688 S. 108th Street at 12:30 a.m. Jan. 31.
  • A 21-year-old male and a 23-year-old woman were taken into custody for alleged possession of marijuana following a traffic stop at the intersection of South 27th Street and West College Avenue at approximately 11 p.m. Jan. 31. Both were booked, cited and released.
  • Greenfield police received a report of graffiti in the form of black marker on the southeast side of at 1:20 p.m. Jan. 31.
  • A 27-year-old man was arrested for alleged possession of schedule II narcotics during a traffic stop in the 4300 block of South 27th Street at 9 p.m. Jan. 31.
  • A 27-year-old woman was booked, cited and released for alleged retail theft of a pizza from , 4265 S. 60th Street at 12:15 a.m. Feb. 1.
  • Just before midnight Feb. 2, a 24-year-old man was taken into custody for alleged possession of schedule II narcotics at the , 3600 S. 108th Street, after police received a call from the man’s mother who told them her son had called her and said he wanted to kill himself.
  • A resident in the 3200 block of S. 43rd Street reported his 1997 black Ford Crown Victoria was stolen at 5:25 a.m. Feb. 3.
  • A 23-year-old male was taken into custody for alleged drunk driving in the 4700 block of S. 108th Street at 12:45 a.m. Feb. 5. If convicted, it would be his first offense.
  • A 34-year-old woman was arrested for alleged drunk driving after being involved in a two-car accident in the parking lot of at 12:50 a.m. Feb. 5. If convicted, it would be her first offense.
  • A 27-year-old man was after leaving the parking lot at 2:30 a.m. Feb. 5. If convicted, it would be his third offense.
