Police Blotter: Man, 28, Arrested for Robbery of Gas Station

This and other reports from the Greenfield Police Department from March 9-15.

A 28-year-old man was taken into custody for alleged robbery atΒ , 6000 W. Layton Ave., 1:15 a.m. March 13.

The man reportedly entered the store and demanded money. According to the police report, the man did not show a weapon and left with a unspecified amount of money.

The man fled but was later stopped by police at the corner of South 27th Street and Layton Avenue, according to the report.Β

The following are more incidents reported in the department's police log from March 9-15:

  • A 43-year-old man was taken into custody during a traffic stop for allegedly driving drunk at the corner of South 122nd Street and West Layton Avenue at 2:15 a.m. March 7. The man, who faces his first drunken driving offense, was booked and released.
  • A 53-year-old woman was warned by police after she called 911 because she dropped a cigarette in a chair in the 4000 block of South 65th Street at 10 p.m. March 7. The woman said she moved the chair but could not find the lit cigarette. She also said she could not lift the chair because it was too heavy and she was unsure if the cigarette was still lit. When officers arrived, the chair was not on fire and they did not smell anything burning in the apartment.
  • A 21-year-old man was taken into custody for alleged disorderly conduct and carrying a concealed weapon after police apprehended him at the corner of South 47th Street and Layton Avenue at 12:15 p.m. March 3. The police were sent to the area after a caller told them she heard a man and woman arguing on the corner. The man was booked and released.
  • A 50-year-old man was taken into custody for retail theft at the , 4601 S. 27th St., at 4:30 p.m. March 8. The man was booked and released.
  • A GMC Sierra was taken from the 5400 block of South Tuckaway Lane at 4:45 p.m. March 8.
  • A 19-year-old man was taken into custody for retail theft at , 4610 S. 76th St., at 5:15 p.m. March 8. The man was booked and released.
  • A mother and son team allegedly committed retail theft at , 4610 S. 76th St., at 4 p.m. March 9. A security guard saw a 20-year-old man and his 42-year-old mother conceal merchandise in the store and called police. The pair were taken into custody, booked and released, according to the police report. The mother currently has another open warrent for retail theft with the department, according to the police report.
  • A 57-year-old man, on his birthday, allegedly decided not to pay for a taxi ride at the corner of South 39th Street and West Layton Avenue at 1:45 a.m. March 10. The man reportedly refused to pay for a ride taken to that location by American Taxi. The man ran into a residence in the 3900 block of West Barnard Avenue where he was taken into custody. He was booked and released.
  • Two vehicle batteries were stolen from a delivery truck at , 6501 W. Layton Ave., between 6:30 p.m. March 9 and 8 a.m. March 10.
  • A 33-year-old man was taken into custody for allegedly stealing cigarettes at Kempfer Prosthetics, 4306 W. Layton Ave., at 1:15 p.m. March 11. The man was booked and released.
