Police Blotter: Man Throws Fit, Phones in Store

This and other reports from the Greenfield Police Department from March 2-8.

A 36-year-old man was advised by police after he allegedly threw a fit in the Sprint PCS store, 7850 W. Layton Ave., at 4 p.m. March 5.

The man, according to police, became irate after a store employee asked him to switch to a different seat so that he could help another customer.

The man, the employee said, did not like being treated "like a child," according to police.

The man started to threaten employees and throwing phones, according to police. Police later found the man walking down the street and advised him that he was no longer welcomed at the store.

  • A 25-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were taken into custody for alleged retail theft at , 4601 S. 27th St., at 6 p.m. Feb. 28. The pair, who were booked and released, were later warned by police after they were seen dressed in all black, walking in traffic and trying to stop cars in the 6700 block of West Layton Avenue at 7:30 p.m.
  • A 20-year-old man was taken into custody for alleged possession of marijuana during a traffic stop in the parking lot of the , 4763 S. 27th St., at 11 p.m. Feb. 28. The man was booked and released.
  • A 19-year-old woman was taken into custody for alleged possession of marijuana during a traffic stop in the 4400 block of West Loomis Road at 12:45 a.m. March 1. The woman was booked and released. A passenger in the vehicle was cited for a seat belt violation.
  • A 17-year-old man was taken into custody for alleged retail theft at , 4601 S. 27th St., at 4:15 p.m. March 1. The man was booked and released.
  • A 47-year-old man was advised regarding soliciting money and being on school property at a gas station at the corner of 60th Street and Cold Spring Road at 6:15 a.m. March 2. The man was reportedly asking teachers for money to buy baby food in the parking lot.
  • A 33-year-old woman was taken into custody after allegedly stealing gas from Villager Food Mart at 68th and Layton at 11 a.m. March 2. The woman is also suspected of taking gas from another Greenfield gas station in the area Feb. 22. She was booked and released.
  • A 17-year-old was taken into custody for alleged auto theft after he was stopped in the 2700 block of South 68th Street at 12:30 a.m. March 4. The boy had three passengers in the vehicle. All four juveniles were booked at the station while two were released to their mothers.
  • A 29-year-old woman was taken into custody for alleged drunken driving during a traffic stop at the corner of 45th and Layton Avenue at 3 a.m. March 4, the morning after her birthday. The woman was booked and released.
  • The tires and rims of a Pontiac Torrent were taken in the 12200 block of West Beloit Road between 5 p.m. March 3 and 6:30 a.m. March 4. The vehicle was also keyed and its interior was damaged. The word "HA" was keyed on the hood of the vehicle.
  • Money was stolen from a purse in an apartment in the 8500 block of West Waterford Avenue at 2:30 p.m. March 6. The owner of the purse left her apartment unlocked to go in the basement to get her laundry. When she returned, she saw two 12- to 13-year-old boys standing in her apartment, according to police. The boys were seen going door to door, claiming to do a survey, according to the report. Footprints were found in the back of the apartment.
  • A 36-year-old man was taken into custody for alleged disorderly conduct at his residence at 11:30 p.m. March 6. The man, a regular customer at George Webb's, began causing trouble during his recent visits, according to an employee of the restaurant. The man allegedly allegedly threatened customers while being intoxicated. The issue escalated when he threatened an employee, according to police report, and laid a knife on the restaurant counter March 5. Β
