Police Blotter: Middle School Student Suffers Puncture Wounds to Nose

The wounds occurred when another student allegedly struck him with his hand while holding pencils.

A student suffered injuries to his face when another student allegedly struck him while holding two pencils in the 4500 block of South 116th Street at 4 p.m. May 1.

The pencils caused small puncture wounds to the victim’s nose and chipped the lens of his glasses. The victim’s father chose not to press charges and the suspect’s father agreed to pay for the damaged glasses.

That, and the following incidents were recorded in the log from April 30 through May 6.

  • A purse was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 12000 block of West Chapman Avenue at 9:45 a.m. April 30. The caller reported his passenger window had been broken sometime during the night. A nearby neighbor found a wallet, which belonged to the theft victim, and its contents strewn around on the side of the road in front of his home.
  • A resident reported the back window of his vehicle was shattered sometime between noon April 29 and 10:30 a.m. April 30.
  • The manager of , 4296 S. 76th, reported to police on May 1 that 17 cartons of cigarettes were taken from the store at 4 a.m. April 28.
  • A 20-year-old woman was arrested for alleged possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after a Franklin Police Department K-9 unit, providing mutual aid, detected the drugs during a traffic stop in the 4700 block of South 27th Street at 5:45 p.m. May 1.
  • A resident in the 10000 block of West Cold Spring Road reported the window of his vehicle was shot out with a BB gun at 4:45 p.m. May 2.
  • An employee at , 8333 W. Layton, reported a gas drive-off of $62.64 at 7 p.m. May 2.
  • A juvenile was taken into custody for alleged disorderly conduct and obstructing after police received a call about several subjects beating up another subject in the 3000 block of West Ramsey Avenue at 7:30 p.m. May 2.
  • A Greenfield Middle School student reportedly had his iPod stolen while at school May 2.
  • A 28-year-old woman was taken into custody for allegedly operating while intoxicated in the 10600 block of West Beloit Road at 3:20 a.m. May 4. If convicted, it would be her second offense.
  • A 39-year-old woman was cited for alleged retail theft after a security officer at 4601 S. 27th Street reportedly watched her try to return a pair of shoes that she had just stolen at 1 p.m. May 4.
  • A 28-year-old man was arrested for alleged possession of synthetic marijuana after he was pulled over in the 4500 block of South 108th Street at 5:40 p.m. May 4.
