Police Blotter: Police Investigate Dumping, Thefts at Businesses

That and other reports from the Greenfield Police Department from April 18-24.

The is investigating several cases involving either dumping or theft of materials and supplies from businesses during the past week.

Garbage was dumped behind Bartz's the Party Store, 4150 S. 108th St., during the weekend of April 16. An employee requested police to watch the area.

Two dozen black steal concrete forms were stolen from VJS Construction, 3939 S. 92nd St., between April 15 and April 18.

Scrap metal was also stolen from behind Povlick Excavating, 2740 W. Cold Spring Road, during the weekend of April 16.

A blue extended cab truck was seen stealing pallets behind , 4601 S. 27th St., at 7:30 p.m. April 22. The person who informed police said approximately 100 pallets have been stolen during the last couple of months.

The following are more incidents reported in the department's police log from April 18-24:

  • Two 30-year-old men were taken into custody for allegedly stealing an electric razor at  at 2:30 p.m. April 19.
  • A 35-year-old woman was taken into custody for drug possession during a traffic stop in the 4300 block of South 108th Street. She was booked, cited and released. 
  • License plates were stolen from two vehicles in the 3900 block of South Tara Hill Drive during the evening of April 19.
  • A 25-year-old was taken into custody after allegedly taking a purse from a woman at , 4260 S. 76th St., at 1:45 p.m. April 20. The man was . 
  • A 20-year-old was taken into custody for allegedly driving a pickup truck decorated with flame decals on a soccer field and in ditches in the park at South Root River Parkway and West Brookside Drive at 7 p.m. April 20. He was booked, cited and released. 
  • A 24-year-old man was taken into custody for allegedly driving drunk in the 4600 block of South 76th Street at 10 p.m. April 20. The man was booked and released.
  • A 49-year-old man was taken into custody for allegedly choking his son at 1 a.m. April 21. The address of the alleged incident is withheld to protect the victim.
  • A 31-year-old woman was taken into custody for alleged retail theft at  on April 22. 
  • A 39-year-old woman and a 22-year-old woman were taken into custody for alleged retail theft at  at 2:30 p.m. April 22.
  • A 32-year-old man was taken into custody for allegedly punching a man in the eye at , 3800 S. 108th St., at 2 a.m. April 23. The man turned himself in to police later that day.
  • A 39-year-old man was taken into custody for assaulting a women at 3:30 a.m. April 23. The man was booked, cited and released. The address of the incident is withheld to protect the victim.
