Police Blotter: Police Take Two Repeat Drunk Drivers Into Custody

This and other reports from the Greenfield Police Department from Sept. 12-18.

Greenfield police took two repeat offenders into custody for allegedly driving drunk again during the past week.  

Steven Leader, 46, of Milwaukee, was taken into custody for allegedly driving drunk in the 6000 block of South 27th Street at 2 a.m. Sept. 12.

Leader, who faces his fourth offense, a misdemeanor, was given an absolute sobriety order from the court the next day. He is to be monitored by random breathalyzer tests, according to the online circuit court database.

A 58-year-old man was taken into custody for allegedly driving drunk in the 2700 block of West Layton Avenue at 1:15 a.m. Sept. 16. It would be his third offense.

According to the circuit court database, the man has yet to make a court appearance.

The following are more incidents reported in the department's police log from Sept. 12-18.

  • A GPS and ultrasound machine were taken from a vehicle in the 6100 block of South 31st Street at 4 a.m. Sept. 12.
  • A 24-year-old man was taken into custody for alleged possession of cocaine during a traffic stop in the 3300 block of West Loomis Road at 5:15 p.m. Sept. 12. 
  • A 55-year-old man was taken into custody for allegedly driving drunk at the corner of South 27th Street and West Cold Spring Road at 3:15 a.m. Sept. 13. 
  • A 20-year-old woman was taken into custody for allegedly using a false name during a traffic stop at the corner of South 51st Street and West Morgan Avenue at 3:15 p.m. Sept. 13. 
  • A 19-year-old man was taken into custody for allegedly possessing marijuana during a traffic stop at the corner of West Loomis Road and West Layton Avenue at 5 p.m. Sept. 13. 
  • A bicycle was stolen from a residence in the 3100 block of West Mangold Avenue. The theft was reported on Sept. 13. 
  • An employee at , 7438 W. Holmes Ave, reported to police she found several pry marks and what appeared to be marks left from a drill on a locked door at the business during the evening of Sept. 13.
  • A 41-year-old woman and a 22-year-old woman were taken into custody for allegedly shoplifting from , 4279 S. 76th St., at 3 p.m. Sept 14. 
  • A television was reported stolen from a residence in the 3600 block of South 46th Street. The theft was reported Sept. 15. 
  • An 11-year-old girl was warned after allegedly stealing food from the cafeteria at the , 3200 W. Barnard Ave., on Sept. 16.
  • An 18-year-old woman driver was cited during a traffic stop and another 18-year-old woman was taken into custody for allegedly possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the the 3700 block of South 108 Street at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 16. 
  • A 19-year-old man was taken into custody for allegedly beating up his girlfriend at 9 p.m. Sept. 17. The victim had an open warrant and was served with a restraining order, according to police. 
  • Two 25-year-old men were taken into custody for alleged possession of marijuana during a traffic stop at the corner of South 27th Street and West Cold Spring Road at 9:30 p.m. Sept. 17.
