Police Blotter: Police Warn of Car Thefts

These and other reports from the Greenfield Police Department from Feb. 23 - Feb. 28.

Greenfield Police are warning residents to keep their vehicles locked and to remove all valuable items from them after the city was hit with several thefts from automobiles last week.

The owners of four vehicles parked in the 6700 block of West English Meadows Drive reported that they was broken during the night of Feb. 22 or the morning of Feb. 23. A GPS was taken from one of the vehicles that had a smashed window.

A GPS was taken from a 2008 Grand Am in the 4400 block of South 108th Street, according to the owner, who reported the theft at 2:15 p.m. Feb. 25.

A GPS was stolen from a 2003 silver Honda Pilot in the 8500 block of West Cold Spring Road at 1:15 p.m. Feb. 26. The GPS was stolen while the owner was attending a funeral.

  • Police warned a resident of a group home about hugging a neighbor as she brushed off snow from her vehicle in the 3200 block South 43rd Street at 7:30 a.m. Feb. 21. The woman said the man came up from behind her and hugged her from behind. A worker at the group home told police the man has a good understanding between right and wrong, according to the police report.
  • A 14-year-old boy was taken into custody for allegedly stealing mechanical pencils from his teacher at , 3200 W. Barnard Ave. at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 21.
  • A 22-year-old man was taken into custody for allegedly obstructing justice after he told police his red Acura Integra was stolen from the 5200 block of South 45th Street at 9 p.m. Feb. 21. Police later learned the vehicle was not stolen. The man was booked and released.
  • A 28-year-old man was taken into custody for alleged retail theft at , 4601 S. 27th St, at 9:30 p.m. Feb. 21.
  • The driver of a reportedly stolen vehicle allegedly did not pay for about $70 in gas at the gas station, 4715 S. 27 St., at 6 p.m. Feb. 22. The vehicle is described as a newer silver or light tan Chevrolet Trailblazer. It was reported stolen by the Mukwonago Police Department.
  • A 22-year-old man was taken into custody for what would be his second drunken driving offense after he allegedly drove over the curb and into the lot of Pet Supplies Plus, 4505 S. 76th St., at 10 p.m. Feb. 23. The man was booked and released.
  • Two 18-year-old men were taken into custody for alleged possession of marijuana during a traffic stop in the 4600 block South 108th Street at 10:45 p.m. Feb. 25. The passenger was released and the driver was booked and released.
  • A 22-year-old man was taken into custody for alleged retail theft at , 4601 S. 27 St., at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 26. He was booked and released.
  • A 41-year-old woman was taken into custody for alleged retail theft at , 4200 S. 76th St., at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 26. The woman was booked and released.  
  • A 46-year-old woman was taken into custody for alleged retail theft at , 4200 S. 76th St., at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 26. The woman was booked and released.  
  • A 32-year-old man was taken into custody for alleged retail theft at , 4200 S. 76th St., at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 26. The woman was booked and released.
