Police Blotter: Thefts Include Copper Pipes, Shampoo and Recycling Bin

A slew of different items were reported stolen in separate incidents across the city. Those cases populate this week's Police Blotter.

A contractor hired to fix the heat in a building in the 4100 block of South 76th Street last week found an unusual surprise.

The contractor called Greenfield police around 1:15 p.m. April 18 to report he found someone had stripped all the copper piping from the roof area.

That and the following incidents were reported in the incident log from April 9-15:

  • A 46-year-old woman was arrested for alleged possession of prescription drugs without a prescription after she was stopped for a traffic violation in the 4800 block of South 27th Street at 3 p.m. April 17.
  • A resident in the 4600 block of West Grange Avenue reported his city-issued recycling bin was stolen between 8 p.m. April 17 and 6 a.m. April 18.
  • A 20-year-old Greenfield man was taken into custody for possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia while at his home in the 6100 block of South 38th Street just before 10 p.m. April 17.
  • An employee at Music Go Round reported a white and brown Korg  keyboard was taken from the store at approximately 3:15 p.m. April 18.
  • Two females and a male reportedly stole shampoo and other products from Salon Centric, 3765 S. 108th Street at approximately 6 p.m. April 18. According to an employee, the females asked the only employee working at the time questions about products while the male concealed items in a black bag in another aisle.
  • Seven males between the ages of 20 and 27 were involved in a fight at George Webb’s, 6231 S. 27th Street, at 3 a.m. April 21. They were cited for disorderly conduct.
  • A 21-year-old man was taken into custody for first offense operating while intoxicated after striking and knocking down a light pole in the 5000 block of South 108th Street at 5:10 a.m. April 21.
  • A resident in the 7000 block of W. Forest Home Ave. reported his 2001 Yamaha R6 sports bike was stolen overnight April 20 or 21.
