Christmas came a little early for two Greenfield residents, even if the presents they received were unwanted.

A resident in the 4500 block of South 68th Street called police Dec. 18 and reported there was a “no parking bus stop” sign on his front porch.

The resident did not know who put it there. A Milwaukee County employee recovered the sign and pole.

The next day, a resident in the 4200 block of South 66th Street report to police there were lawn ornaments from a Christmas nativity scene in her yard that did not belong to her.

Those and the following incidents were recorded in the Greenfield Police Department incident log for the week of Dec. 17-23:

  • In the wake of the , coupled with the end of the world talk surrounding the Mayan calendar, Greenfield police officers conducted 56 school visits between Dec. 17-23, including 22 on the Monday after the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
  • A 34-year-old man was arrested for domestic violence-disorderly conduct after his friend told police the two of them got into an argument, culminating in the man throwing a chair into and causing damage to an oven just after midnight Dec. 17.
  • A resident in the 3900 block of South 120th Street reported two glass lanterns were taken from the home’s patio sometime between Nov. 9 and Nov. 29.
  • A 45-year-old man was arrested for disorderly conduct after a woman told police he pounded on the windows of her vehicle after she honked at him at a stop light at the intersection of South 76th Street and West Edgerton Avenue at 7:45 p.m. Dec. 17.
  • A woman reported her car was broken into and her purse stolen while the car was parked in the 4900 block of South Root River Parkway sometime before 3:15 p.m. Dec. 18.
  • A woman reported someone entered her unlocked vehicle parked in the 4200 block of South 61st Street and took her purse and money sometime before 4:40 p.m. Dec. 19.
  • An employee at Davita Dialysis, 7740 W. Layton Ave., reported her purse was stolen from her car sometime before 5:50 p.m. Dec. 19.
  • An employee at Pizza Hut reported receiving 23 harassing call from a man who said he was going to come to the restaurant and “slap the staff” Dec. 19. Two days earlier, an employee reported to police someone, possibly the same man, called and threatened to kill people at the restaurant. That employee told police the caller had contacted the restaurant on at least two previous occasions.
  • A woman reported her car window was broken and her purse taken while the vehicle was parked in the lot at Greenfield Veterinary Clinic, 5981 S. 27th St., sometime before 6:10 p.m. Dec. 19.
  • A 20-year-old woman and a 22-year-old woman were arrested for retail theft at Pick ‘n Save at approximately 6:20 p.m. Dec. 20.
  • A woman reported the window of her vehicle was smashed out and a television was taken from the backseat while it was parked in the 4500 block of West Layton Avenue sometime before 8:40 p.m. Dec. 23.
