Police Blotter: Woman Gets Call From 'George Washington'

That and other reports from the Greenfield Police Department from March 14-20.

A 35-year-old woman reported to police that she received a call from a man who said his name was George Washington and told her she had won $800,000.

The woman, who called police at 7:45 p.m. March 15, refused to give the man her personal information and told him she was not interested. Police tried to call the number the call was placed from, but it was invalid.

Police are also investigating graffiti found on the bridge gazebo at , 5151 W. Layton Ave., after a caller informed police reported the crime at 2:15 p.m. March 17. A city employee later found more graffiti on the power box at the park.

  • A 1996 Honda Accord was stolen from the parking lot of Parkside Auto Service, 3320 W. Howard Ave., between 9:15 p.m. March 13 and 7:30 a.m. March 14.
  • A 16-year-old boy was taken into custody for allegedly fighting at , 5000 S. 166th St., at 8:15 a.m. March 15. The boy was cited and released to his parents. 
  • A flag and flagpole were taken in the 3300 block of South Schauer Avenue. The theft was reported at 1:45 p.m. March 15. 
  • A 31-year-old man was taken into custody for retail theft at , 4601 S. 27th St., at 3:45 p.m. March 15. The man was taken back to the station where he was booked and released. 
  • A 36-year-old man was taken into custody for alleged drunken driving at the corner of South 43rd Street and West Edgerton Avenue at 1:45 a.m. March 16. The man was booked and released after taken to the hospital for a blood draw. The man faces his second offense. 
  • A 24-year-old woman was taken into custody for alleged drunken driving in the 4500 block of South 76th Street at 1:45 a.m. March 16. The woman was booked and released. 
  • A 17-year-old boy was taken into custody for alleged possession of marijuana at , 5000 S. 116 St., at 11:45 a.m. March 16. 
  • A 42-year-old man was taken into custody for alleged retail theft at , 4601 S. 27th St., at 12:30 p.m. March 16. He was booked and released. 
  • A 61-year-old man was taken into custody for alleged retail theft at , 4601 S. 27th St., at 1:45 p.m. March 16. He was booked and released. 
  • A 31-year-old woman was taken into custody for alleged possession of marijuana at the corner of West Loomis Road and West Howard Avenue at 5 p.m. March 16. She was booked and released. 
  • A 22-year-old man was taken into custody for alleged drunken driving in the 4000 block of South 35th Street at 1 a.m. March 17. The man was booked and released. 
  • A 21-year-old woman was taken into custody for alleged drunken driving in the 8400 block of Interstate 43 at 2 a.m. March 17. The woman was booked and released. 
  • A 24-year-old man and a 22-year-old man were taken into custody for alleged drug possession and intent to deliver during a traffic stop in the 4200 block of South 76th Street at 7:45 p.m. March 17.  
  • A 43-year-old man was taken into custody after allegedly being involved in a physical altercation with his wife at 1:45 a.m. March 19. The man was booked and released after posting bail. 
  • A 28-year-old man was taken into custody for alleged possession of marijuana during a traffic stop in the 4900 block of West Loomis Road at 9:15 p.m. March 20. The man was cited, booked and released.
