Police Find Gun After Mother-Daughter Fight

No charges were filed in the case, however, because the daughter was uncooperative with the District Attorney's office.

Greenfield police found a gun hidden in a hallway near two children’s bedroom after a domestic violence incident between a daughter and her mother, who threatened to kill herself.

According to the police department report, Greenfield officers arrived at a residence in the 9200 block of West Waterford Avenue at 8:50 p.m. May 20, and found the daughter in a garage.

The daughter told police she was outside smoking when her mother grabbed the cigarette from her hand and threw it to the ground. They began to argue, and the mother went inside and returned with a small handgun, the daughter told police.

The mother implied things would be better if she shot herself.

A short while later, after the mother went back into the residence, she told her daughter to come and get the daughter’s children, ages 4 and 9, out of the residence. The children were sleeping in a back bedroom.

When the daughter retrieved her children and was leaving, the mother grabbed her by the hair and began to whip her around, the daughter told police. That led to a physical altercation.

A short time later, the mother got into her car and while she was driving away said, “I’ll kill myself,” the daughter told police.

When police entered the apartment, they found the gun hidden under some bags in a hallway, near where the children had been.

When the mother returned to the residence, she was arrested for endangering safety while armed and disorderly conduct – domestic violence. She admitted to the altercation and to holding a gun during the argument, a gun she said was an antique and had no ammunition.

No charges were filed in the case, however, because the daughter was uncooperative with the District Attorney’s office.
