Police Officer Suspended For One Day

Officer violated a department rule, according to police chief.

A member of the Greenfield Police Department was suspended for one day according to a notice of discipline that was read into record during the Police and Fire Commission meeting Monday night.

Police Chief Frank Springob informed commissioners that the officer violated a department rule.

"Because the member does not wish to contest this discipline, there will be no need to involve the commission in this matter," Springob said.

Springob has a statutory requirement to notify the Police and Fire Commission when a member of the department is disciplined with suspension.

Commissioners did not discuss the suspension. The notice of discipline was not part of the commission's agenda in closed session during the meeting.

Springob gave commissioners another notice of discipline, but it was not read into the record. That notice of discipline was not on the agenda.
