Fox 6 reported Greenfield police were on a routine patrol at around 2 a.m. when they came across the suspects apparently trying to steal parts from , 5505 S. 27th Street. Johnson said they allegedly attempting to steal tires.

The suspects fled in a red Nissan and reached speeds of 100 miles per hour while traveling west on Grange Avenue. Captain Mike Brunner was on patrol at the corner of 43rd Street and Grange Avenue and saw the suspects blow through that intersection's stop sign, according to Johnson.

The suspects' car crashed in a ditch when the suspects attempted to turn onto Loomis Road at a high rate of speed. From there, the suspects then fled on foot.

There were no reported injuries.

"Blowing a stop light at Grange at 80 (mph) is bad enough, and then to come to an intersection like Loomis and Grange," Johnson said. "Sure, it was 2 in the morning and it wasn't as busy that time of day, but they were fortunate no one was hurt."

According to Newsradio 620 WTMJ, police obtained information on one of the suspects from the car that was left behind. That information, according to Johnson, was used to track him down. More property - additional car parts - was recovered at the suspect's residence.
