Rummage Sale's No-Return Policy Applies to Kids, Too

In this week's police blotter, a young girl took money from her mom's purse and spent it at a rummage sale over the weekend. When she tried to right her wrong and return the items, she was denied.

A young girl, who took $23 from her mother’s purse without asking, got a few early life lessons, including one on no-return policies.

The girl took the money and spent it at a rummage sale in the 6500 block of West Forest Home Avenue on June 1, according to the Greenfield Police Department log.

When the child went back with the items with a man she and her mother live with and asked for the money back in exchange for the items she purchased, her request was denied by those running the rummage.

That and the following incidents were included in the Greenfield Police Department’s incident log for the week of May 28 through June 2:

  • A resident in the 3800 block of South 35th Street told police her garage was spray-painted sometime during the night of May 27, and that items were taken from the garage as well. It was the second time this month the woman’s garage had been spray-painted.
  • An employee at Mad Dog, 4395 S. 76th St. found a man ripping wires off a motorcycle parked in the lot just after midnight May 29. The man was apprehended, transported to the hospital for medical clearance and then arrested for theft.
  • A man told police he was the victim of an attempted robbery and battery in the 4000 block of West Forest Home in Milwaukee the night of May 28. He woke up the next morning with head pain and bruising. He was advised to go to the hospital and Milwaukee police were asked to meet him there.
  • An employee of the Knights of Columbus, 3200 S. 103rd St., told police there was graffiti on the building and a small building in the parking lot that belongs to AT&T on May 29.
  • A man was arrested for disorderly conduct - domestic violence after his wife told police he threw her down and took their son after an incident in the 12100 block of West Holmes Avenue at 9:15 p.m. May 29.
