On April 27, Krause was at a home in the 3000 block of West Cold Spring Road where the victim’s son held a party and told Krause there was $5,000 in cash in the safe. After the party dispersed, the group went to McDonald’s, but Krause was dropped off, then walked back to the house and took the safe.

The victim called police the next day when he spotted the safe missing, saying it contained $1,200, jewelry, a camera, checkbooks and important documents. Krause admitted to the theft, saying he was able to crack the safe open later.
