A 31-year-old Greenfield woman is charged with felony theft for stealing $23,000 in jewelry from her grandmother to support her addiction to Percocet pills.

Jamie Noelle was charged May 15 with felony theft of property valued at more than $10,000. If convicted, she faces up to 10 years imprisonment, $25,000 in fines, or both.

According to the criminal complaint: On March 26, the victim and her husband reported to Greenfield police the theft of $23,453 in jewelry from her home. The victim said she was looking for a specific ring when she noticed it was missing, along with several other pieces of jewelry. She told police she suspected her granddaughter, Noelle, was responsible, as she has been living with them for years and struggled with an addiction to prescription pills.

Police conducted a search of an online property record database and discovered Noelle had sold 40 pieces of jewelry in six transactions in fall 2012. Greenfield detectives showed the victim photos of the sold items, which she identified as her property.

During questioning, Noelle admitted to police to stealing the jewelry to support her pill addiction, according to a criminal complaint.

Noelle is due in court June 11 for a scheduling conference and is currently being held at the Milwaukee County Jail, according to online court documents.
