Troopers to Take a Zero Tolerance Approach on Freeways Starting Sunday

Wisconsin State Patrol expected to step up enforcement on I-94 for Operation STARS on June 26.

The Wisconsin State Patrol Southeast Region will team up with the Illinois State Police on Sunday, June 26, to intensify traffic safety enforcement within their jurisdictions on I-94 for Operation STARS, which stands for Speeding, Texting, Alcohol, Reckless driving and Seatbelt violations.

Troopers will take a zero tolerance approach to highway safety violations, according to Wisconsin State Patrol Sergeant Anthony Burrell.

“The Fourth of July holiday is coming, which will increase traffic on I-94," Burrell said in a news release. "To prepare for the holiday, we are reminding motorists now that they need to slow down, be patient, pay attention, drive sober and buckle up.
