Two Charged With Growing Marijuana Near Whitnall Middle School

The suspects allegedly had nine plants growing near a walking path, which were discovered by a Greenfield police officer.

Two men are facing charges after they were caught allegedly growing marijuana plants outside of .

Lee T. Johnson, 19, of Hales Corners, and Cameron J. Frederiksen, 19, of New Berlin, were charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court on Saturday with one count of manufacture of a controlled substance. If convicted, they each face up to six years in prison and $10,000 in fines.

On Aug. 3, a Greenfield police officer was on a walking trail by the middle school when he spotted nine marijuana plants growing just off of the path. The officer dug the plants up and took them to the Greenfield Police Department where it was confirmed to be marijuana.

Later in the day another Greenfield police officer went to the school to survey the area and spotted Johnson and Frederiksen walking from the area where the plants had been. The officer confronted the duo and Johnson said they had been growing the plants for personal use.

Both men will make their initial appearance in court Oct. 4.Β
