Concealed Carry is Upon Greenfield, Wisconsin

Today is the first day residents can apply for permits to carry concealed weapons.

The concealed carry law went into effect today, but that doesn't mean everyone who wants to or legally can carry a hidden weapon will be doing so immediately.

According to a story by FOX6 Now, 83,000 concealed carry permits were downloaded from the state's Justice Department's website between midnight and 9 a.m., during which time the agency's website received approximately 400,000 hits.

The story adds that it is unclear how long it will take to issue permits, evenΒ to those who filled the Justice Department's Capitol office in Madison to hand in their permit first thing this morning.

The new law allows anyone 21 years or older who hasn't been convicted of a felony and has taken a minimum of four hours of firearms training and obtained a permit to carry a concealed weapon.
