Frozen Yogurt Shop Could Fill Shopping Center Space

A family-owned frozen yogurt company has been proposed to fill one of several vacancies in the Greenfield Place shopping center.

The frozen yogurt phenomenon could be making its way to Greenfield.

John and Jen Mosier of Oak Creek are hoping to open Daddy-Yo’s, a family-owned frozen yogurt business in the Greenfield Place shopping center.

According to a letter included in the Mosiers’ application to the city, Daddy-Yo’s would be similar to other frozen yogurt shops in that customers would pay by the ounce. The shop would offer at least 10 frozen yogurt flavors daily, along with toppings such as fresh fruits, candies and syrups.

The shop would employ 5-15 employees.

Daddy-Yo’s would have varying hours based on the season. From June through August, the shop would be open Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday-Saturday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; and Sunday, noon to 9 p.m.

From September to May, the shop would be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Saturday, and closed Sunday.

There are no other frozen yogurt shops in Greenfield or Greendale, but several have opened, or are opening, in nearby cities.

Yo Mama! has been in business in Wauwatosa for a few years and recently expanded to Brookfield. A third Yo Mama! is opening in Shorewood this month.

Oak Creek recently welcomed YoFresh Yogurt Café to Howell Avenue, and Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt opened last year on National Avenue just west of Highway 100.

Daddy-Yo’s would fill one of five vacancies in the shopping center. At 4874 S. 74th St., it would be located right next to Fred Astaire Dance Studio. The tenant space to the east of the future Daddy-Yo’s is also vacant, as are two spaces adjacent to nearby Old Country Buffet.

Huntington Learning Center was the last tenant at 4874 S. 74th St.

The Mosiers’ frozen yogurt proposal is expected to be heard by the city’s Planning Commission at its meeting at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 12, at City Hall.

Sounds really good, and could also be good for the community.
