The Republican Party of Wisconsin announced Thursday that former Greenfield High School graduate Joe Fadness has been named Executive Director, succeeding Stephan Thompson in that role.
Thompson is stepping down to serve as campaign manager of the Friends of Scott Walker Campaign Committee.
The change is effective March 1.
“I am honored with the opportunity to lead the Republican Party of Wisconsin,” Joe Fadness said in a statement. “We have an aggressive plan to grow the party, build our ground game, and expand our reach as we look ahead to the mid-term elections. I look forward to working with party leaders to achieve these results.”
Fadness is currently the party’s political director. He has worked in politics at the local, state, and national levels. He was a leader in Walker’s 2008 re-election as Milwaukee County executive and later organized a statewide grassroots structure that helped elect Walker as governor in 2010.
Fadness served as Director of External Relations in the governor’s office before managing Eric Hovde’s United States Senate campaign. He also spent time working for the White House Office of Presidential Advance and organized visits across the United States and on six continents
He is a graduate of Greenfield High School and Marquette University.
