Greenfield Political Junkies Have Plenty To Do This Weekend

Air and Water Show, Packers Family Night have nothing on the excitement of the Darling-Pasch race, Tea Party rally.

Instead of heading to the Milwaukee Air and Water Show or the annual Packers Family Night, Greenfield residents can experience the same high-flying thrills and bone-jarring hits by getting their politics on this weekend, volunteering for one of the candidates running in the nearby 8th Senate District recall election.

The race,  promises to be one of the closest of the six recall elections. And with the stakes being so high - - both candidates will be campaigning hard this weekend.

Both candidates are calling on volunteers to pitch in this weekend by going door to door or getting on the phones. To volunteer for the Pasch campaign, call (414) 573-0157. To volunteer for the Darling campaign, call (414) 727-4445.

Pasch herself will be on the phones and canvassing door to door throughout the weekend. According to a campaign spokesperson, Senator Mark Miller will be helping Pasch campaign today.

"This (election) has special significance. We're going to take back our state on Tuesday," said Dave Kreisman, spokesman for the Pasch campaign. "People are calling for change… and on Tuesday we are going to change direction, change course."

The Darling camp will have Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch knocking on doors for the Senator today.

"We owe it to our future and the future of our state to make the right decisions. Let's give it our all during these last few days," the campaign said in a statement.

The race has took an of voter bribery coming from both parties.

Milwaukee prosecutors are investigating whether elections laws were broken when the Wisconsin Right to Life paid volunteers gas and gift cards if they got absentee ballots completed by supportive voters.

They are also investigating whether laws were broken when Wisconsin Jobs Now held voting events recently where free food and children activities were offered along with rides to polling places where voters could cast absentee ballots.

To top it off, the Democratic Party of Wisconsin on Thursday filed a complaint with the state Government Accountability Board, accusing Darling of covering up of collusion with several special-interest groups.

If campaigning and mud slinging are not enough for the Greenfield political junkie, they can head to Thiensville this afternoon where the Tea Party Express will hold an event from 5:30-7 p.m. The rally will be held in Thiensville Village Park.
