Greenfield Signs Community Covenant With Military

Agreement shows city's support for those in the Armed Forces.

The City of Greenfield, which has strong military ties thanks to the and Greenfield High School's Junior ROTC, continued to show its support for those who serve by with the Milwaukee Recruiting Battalion last month.

During the signing, covered by www.army.mil, Greenfield Mayor Michael Neitzke spoke of his father's service during World War II and encouraged other members of the Intergovernmental Cooperation Council to sign similar covenants.

“My father said something to me that I will never forget, he said he fought for me so that I wouldn’t have to,” Neitzke said in the story. “When (service members) who are in Iraq, Afghanistan, Korea, or any other place in the world, when they come home we need to recognize that there are huge sacrifices being made by them and their Families. And we have to make sure that we have that same commitment to them when they return.”
