Greenfield, Whitnall Could Form Joint Boys Volleyball Program

The districts are considering a co-op, and the Greenfield School Board will hear its administration's proposal Monday.

The will consider approving an arrangement between Greenfield and Whitnall high schools that would result in a cooperative boys volleyball team at at 6:30 p.m.

Whitnall is the only school in the Woodland Black Division that does not offer boys volleyball. South Milwaukee, Greendale and Greenfield have their own teams, while New Berlin Eisenhower has a co-op with New Berlin West.

In the Woodland Blue Division, in addition to New Berlin West's co-op, Shorewood has its own team, but St. Thomas More, Cudahy, Pewaukee, Brown Deer and St. Francis do not have teams nor do they participate in co-ops.

was winless in the Woodland Conference (0-9) last fall but has made two WIAA state tournament appearances: 2003 and 2006.

The program’s rich history also includes successful seasons during the 1980s and 1990s when the sport was not officially recognized by the WIAA. That stretch included a state championship .
