Look Ahead: Election, Superintendent Search This Week

Tuesday is primary Election Day! All Greenfield voters will get the chance to trim the candidate field in the State Supreme Court and Milwaukee County Judge races. Voters in Wards 5-12 can do the same in the race for the 17thDistrict Milwaukee County Board, which features Greenfield’s Tom Anthony and Al Singer and West Allis’ Tony Staskunas.

On Wednesday, the city’s Common Council will meet to discuss the fate of a proposal to open a second-hand jewelry store shop on 27th Street, among other things.

Thursday, the Greenfield School Board will take a big step in determining its new superintendent following the resignation of Conrad Farner last month. The district will hold a series of focus group sessions, starting at 2 p.m. and ending at 8:45 p.m., at the Performing Arts Center and district board room.

All group sessions will be open to the public as the Board and its search firm collect info on what’s important to the stakeholders as they look for Farner’s replacement.

And to end the week with a little fun, the Greenfield Parks and Recreation Department’s 2012 Hall of Fame and Staff Recognition banquet is Friday, Feb. 22, at the Greenfield Community Center.

Among this year’s award winners are Donald Almquist, who will be inducted into the department’s hall of fame, and Audrey Ellison, who will be recognized as the volunteer of the year.
