Paul Ryan's Recent Greenfield Visits Met with Cheers, Jeers

On Saturday, the Wisconsin congressman was named as Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's vice-presidential running mate. Twice last year, Ryan made highly publicized visits to Greenfield.

Whether or not the Romney-Ryan campaign bus makes its way through Greenfield in the next three and a half months remains to be seen.

But in recent visits to Greenfield, U.S. Representative Paul Ryan, who on Saturday was chosen as Mitt Romney's vice-presidential candidate to run on the Republican ticket, the Janesville native was met with mixed results.

In April 2011, Ryan visited and . He received a standing ovation by most, but was booed and heckled by others.

The so-called listening session began with a 20-minute PowerPoint presentation, and Ryan was interrupted often as some participants shouted over each other, trying to be heard by the congressman, much to Ryan's despair.

“Screaming doesn’t work. Didn’t we just say we’re Wisconsinites? Be civil with one another. … Are you going to be polite, or are you going to yell? You’re bigger than that.”

Five months later, things got even more heated when Ryan visited Klemmer's Banquet Hall as a guest of the Whitnall Park Rotary Club in September.

Greenfield police separated in front of the hall, and once Ryan began his presentation, he was met by several protestors who appeared .
