Meetings Preview: Common Council to Consider Pawn Shop; School District to Look at Prelim Budget

The Greenfield School Board will take its first look at the preliminary budget for the 2011-2012 school year at tonight’s meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the board room.

The district's Business Administration Committee will meet in advance of the board meeting at 5:45 p.m.

In addition, the Whitnall School Board has called a special meeting to begin contract discussions with the Whitnall Area Federation of Teachers on Monday. The meeting begins at 3:15 p.m. in the district's board/community room, but the negotiations are expected to start at 4 p.m.

Also this evening, the Legislative Committee will look at amending three separate municipal codes at its meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the Common Council chambers of .

Perhaps the most interesting of the three codes is the one related to secondhand dealers and pawnbrokers and .

In addition, the committee will consider amending the municipal code that bans the operation of bicycles by young children, paramedics and police officers on city sidewalks, and will consider adding motor vehicles/trailers to the city’s nuisance vehicle code.

At tomorrow’s Common Council meeting at 7 p.m. in council chambers, there will be three separate public hearings, including one in regards to .

Later at the meeting, council members will consider the Minnesota-based company’s request.

The Park and Recreation Board will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in Rm. 204 of City Hall (no agenda available at time of publication), and a Zoning Board of Appeals meeting slated for Thursday has been canceled.
