Milwaukee County Board Incumbents Earn Re-election

Voters turned Tuesday's election into a resounding referendum in favor of incumbents as three current Milwaukee County Board supervisors in Patch's coverage area were reelected, according to unofficial election results on WISN.com. 

Incumbent Willie Johnson Jr. defeated Bria Grant, in the race for the District 13 supervisor seat on the County Board. Unofficially, Johnson earned 64 percent of the vote. Part of Johnson's district is in Whitefish Bay. The 61-year-old has served on the County Board since 2000. Unofficially, he earned 64 percent of the vote. 

Supervisor Johnson is chairman of the County Board Judiciary, Safety and General Services Committee and a member of the County Board Finance and Audit Committee andCounty Board Economic and Community Development Committee. 

Incumbent Jim Luigi Schmitt defeated Barbara Schumacher to retain his supervisor seat on the County Board. Before Tuesday's election, Schmitt represented the 19th District, but because the County Board has downsized to 18 districts, he will represent District 6, includes Wauwatosa.

Schmitt, who has served on the board since 1998, earned 62 percent of the vote, unofficially.  The Wauwatosa resident is chairman of the Intergovernmental Relations Committee. 

Incumbent Theodore Lipscomb Sr. cruised to victory over Andrew Cegielski in the race for District 1 supervisor seat on the Milwaukee County Board. Lipscomb, who will serve a second term, represents Fox Point on the board. He garnered 60 percent of the vote, unofficially. 

Lipscomb serves as Vice-Chairman of the Economic and Community Development Committee and also serves on the Health and Human Needs Committee and the Personnel Committee.

One of the new faces on the board will be state Rep. David Cullen who will represent part of Wauwatosa after defeating challenger Dan Cody in the race for the District 15 seat on the County Board. Cullen won the race with 58 percent of the vote.  

Another new face will be Franklin Alderman Steve Taylor who according to the Journal Sentinel was leading Oak Creek Alderman Kenneth A. Gehl by 20 points in the race to succeed Paul Cesarz as supervisor of District 9.

In judicial races, Carolina Maria Stark beat Nelson Welsey Phillips in the Milwaukee County Circuit Court Branch 17 race and Lindsey Grady defeated Hannah Dugan in the race for Milwaukee County Circuit Court Branch 23. Stark won her race with 56 percent of the vote while Grady earned 60 percent of the vote in her race. Both results are unofficial. 

Incumbent Scott Manske was victorious against Kristie Bunting in the race for Milwaukee County Comptroller.
