Monday

Patch featured Greenfield resident Mark Van Handel, who recently released the third edition of Ross Wellington, an original graphic novel about an alien who works as a private detective. Ross Wellington started as a doodle in a class notebook 14 years ago, Van Handel said, and he and friend Brian Ellis collaborated to create the series. Patch also included an . Spahn has been a city employee for 39 years, since his hire with the Division of Public Works in December 1972. He moved to the Fire Department in 1981. He admitted the state's political situation had a major impact on his decision to retire now.

“I have concerns where the economy has gone, where our system is right now, especially in the public sector,” he said. “For the first time in my career, I feel offended by a lot of the media hype or people in general feeling that public employees are responsible for the debts that the state has. That’s certainly not true, but we’ve had some of our people booed at City Hall, some negative things."

Tuesday

Patch featured a about a snake that slithered through the air vents of an apartment building. Police and fire personnel captured the loose snake and put it in a bucket. They suspect the snake belonged to someone else in the building.

Wednesday

Fire Chief Russ Spahn was , saying he wanted the man appointed to take over when he retires to be hired as the next chief. Read why here.

Thursday

Patch had the news Thursday that the proposal to require voters show a photo ID at the polls. The proposal passed the Senate 19-5, and is expected to be signed into law next week by Gov. Scott Walker.

Friday

If you're looking for a place to check out this weekend, consider Playoffs Pub and Grill, . The remodeled and renamed Playoffs replaces Fat Boy Roadhouse. It's an intimate setting, the owner said, and she plans to have it be a clean, cozy and entertaining bar. They plan to have a full-service kitchen with a large menu, and there's live music scheduled for the summer.
