More Improvements Could be Coming to Zablocki Park

A proposal to upgrade the park's baseball fields is on the table, but where the funds are coming from have several people questioning the improvements.

Thanks to the not-for-profit and free medical clinic, the pavilion has gotten a facelift both inside and out.

A proposal in front of a Milwaukee County Board committee could extend the park's improvements to a pair of baseball fields.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the committee is considering using nearly $200,000 of federal community development block grant money originally designated for other programs on the project.

The potential shifting of that money has drawn the ire of opponents of the project, which has a price tag of $275,000. A donation of $40,000 by former Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Prince Fielder would cover some of it.

After several months of renovations, , and the grand opening of the Philippine Center is expected to take place in June.
