Pietrowski Retains Common Council Seat

Incumbent defeats former alderman James Palmar in District 2 race.

Incumbent Thomas Pietrowski secured enough votes Tuesday to earn his fourth term as the Greenfield Common Council's District 2 Alderperson.

Pietrowski defeated former alderperson James Palmar, 956-859, or 53 percent to 47 percent.

"Hopefully it’s by doing what my constituents felt I should be doing for them, standing up for them," Pietrowski said when asked why he thought he was re-elected. "There are pockets of people that somehow have a need, and when you come to help them, they appreciate it. That’s how it goes."

Pietrowski is a lifelong Greenfield resident who has referred to himself as a fiscal conservative. He believes the city should have a comprehensive capital improvements program that includes work on the city's roads and infrastructure, but said the budget will be an issue for everyone moving forward.

"There's a lot of challenges," he said. "The big one is going to be the budget though, with what’s going to be handed down by the state."
