Proposed City Tax Levy Expected to be Lower than 2013's

The City of Greenfield’s tax levy in the 2014 proposed budget put together by Mayor Michael Neitzke calls for a much lower tax levy increase than the previous budget.

A year ago, the Common Council voted to levy to the maximum amount, raising the tax levy 2.74 percent over the 2012 amount.

This year’s budget, however, according to Greenfield NOW, would raise the tax levy 0.86 percent.

The increase would help the police department add a police officer and increase library funding, according to NOW’s story.
