More Recall-Related Incidents Reported in Greenfield

Greenfield police have fielded several calls from residents and business owners.

The group behind efforts to recall Gov. Scott Walker to trigger a recall election.

But not everyone in Greenfield is fired up about that news.

Early last week, Greenfield Patch from residents angered that petitioners were collecting signatures in the .

This week, Greenfield NOW is reporting the Greenfield Police Department has fielded several recall-related calls, including one from the owner Layton Plaza, 7515 W. Layton Ave., who was upset that petitioners have been manning the corner of 76th Street and Layton Avenue, where the plaza is located, almost daily.

The story also indicates at least one case of verbal abuse, one citizen concerned about petitioners on private property and one incident of a van swerving at person collecting signatures.

Police Chief Brad Wentlandt told Patch his department had taken 5-10 calls, mostly complaints about petitioners standing roadside.

I wonder if the colder weather and snow will keep people from gathering signatures over the next few weeks.

Recall organizers are off to a good pace, but can they maintain it? They're going to need 700,000+ to avoid lengthy and costly court challenges.
