Senator Tim Carpenter Shares Thoughts, Photos From Ground Zero

He was in New York on Sept. 11.

Senator Tim Carpenter (D-Milwaukee), one of Greenfield's state representatives, was in New York City at Ground Zero on Sept. 11, 2011.

“I wanted to attend to respect the memory of those killed or injured in the attacks against our country, and to honor the bravery and heroism of the first responders of 9/11," Carpenter said in a news release.

“Like many others who visited Ground Zero this weekend, I was personally affected by the grief of the families of those who lost their lives, and I was also heartened by the confirmation of the resilience of our nation and its people. When lives were in peril, our first responders ran to help. When buildings were destroyed at Ground Zero and the Pentagon, we rebuilt. When we learned of Osama bin Laden’s role in the attacks, we did not rest until he was brought to justice.”

According to the release, Carpenter personally paid for this trip and no taxpayer funds were used.
