State Senator Tim Carpenter Believes in Shrinking Legislature

His plan calls for reduction in senators and representatives.

State Senator Tim Carpenter (D-Milw.) believes the redistricting plan expected to be brought before the senate this month should include his plan to reduce the number of senators and representatives in the Wisconsin legislature, a plan that could save taxpayers millions over the next decade.

Carpenter’s told 130 people at Greenfield Public Library on Friday that his plan, introduced as Senate Bill 35, would reduce the number of senators from 33 to 25. The bill would also reduce the number of assembly representatives from 99 to 75.

“The time for analyzing this cost-saving plan is over, and the time for action has come," Carpenter said in a news release.
