Report: Value City Furniture to be Replaced by Ashley Furniture

The new furniture store on Greenfield's east side is scheduled to open this summer.

The 27th Street vacant storefront created when Value City Furniture decided to pull all of its stores out of Wisconsin won't be empty too long.

Ashley Furniture will move its Franklin store a few miles down the street into the space at 4771 S. 27th St. next to Target, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The newspaper reports Ashley Furniture, which has 14 Wisconsin stores, will use approximately 40,000 of the available 55,000 square feet. The remainder would be leased out to other retailers.

Value City Furniture closed its doors early last month. Ashley Furniture is scheduled to open in July.

Greenfield’s Community Development Manager Charles Erickson said Value City Furniture had been in Greenfield since 2005. Going back to 1997, prior to Value City, the building was occupied by grocery stores SuperSaver, Fresh 4 Less and Rainbow Foods.
