Greendale Walmart to Open in 2013

Hiring is taking place now for the store, set to open in early 2013.

The new Walmart under construction on 76th Street will be open in early 2013 with hiring taking place now.

The store is approximately 93,000 square feet and will offer customers the convenience of one-stop shopping for both general merchandise and a full line of groceries, according to Delia Garcia, Walmart media director.

The store is hiring employees for approximately 200 positions including sales associates, pharmacy technicians, and management.

The retailer opened a temporary hiring center for prospective employees Oct. 8 at the Walmart in Waukesha, W226 S1500 Highway 164.  Interested applicants can stop by during the center’s hours of operation, 8 a.m.to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, or apply online at http://careers.walmart.com.

Store manager Jason Steffen said associates are needed to work in all areas of the new store, including supervisory positions.

“We are hiring full- and part-time associates,” Steffen said. “Walmart provides good jobs with opportunities for career growth, and we look forward to talking with candidates who are interested in joining our store’s team.”

Steffen began his Walmart career as an hourly associate in 1998 in the garden center at a store in Manitowoc.

Walmart’s average wage for full-time hourly associates in Wisconsin is $12.46, according to the retailer. Also, Walmart’s benefit program is available to eligible full- and part-time associates and provides a variety of affordable health and well-being benefits including health care coverage with no lifetime maximum. Walmart also offers eligible associates matching 401(k) contributions of up to 6 percent of pay, discounts on general merchandise, an Associate Stock Purchase Program and company-paid life insurance. Additionally, eligible associates receive a quarterly incentive based on store performance.

I guess they don't want their new employees overwhelmed by the holiday madness.
