Republican leadership in Wisconsin: Focused on growing the economy

Republican leadership in Wisconsin is focused on growing the economy and helping to cultivate a healthy environment for job creation. As the national economy continues to stagger, Wisconsin’s economy has taken a different path. Conservative leadership, led by Governor Walker, has shown the positive effects of balancing the budget, lowering the tax burden for all, and helping companies to expand in Wisconsin.

During the Doyle-Burke Administration, unemployment spiked to 9.2%. 133,000 jobs fled the state during the last term as over $3 billion in tax hikes were pushed on Wisconsin’s middle class. That all changed when our state house went back into Republican hands, and in turn, the power was put back into the hands of the hard-working taxpayers of our state.

Because of the work done by Governor Walker and a Republican-led Legislature, property taxes have gone down three years in a row. Instead of tax hikes, taxpayers have already seen over $1.5 billion in total tax relief – and counting.

As a result, the unemployment rate is down to 6.5%, the lowest rate since December 2008. Tens of thousands of jobs have been created during the last three years, along with over 10,000 new businesses in the state. And Wisconsin’s industries are being heavily invested in: From January to September in 2012, Wisconsin exported over $2.3 billion worth of agricultural products, and a recent report ranked the state 6th in the country in new manufacturing growth from October 2012 to October 2013.

Republican policies have shown the positive effects of limited government and a focus on the private sector, and we are continuing to move Wisconsin forward.
