Greenfield Girls Soccer Set to Start Tomorrow

A general look into Greenfield High School girls soccer team from head coach Rob Blake, just before the season starts.

it's been quite a while since i last blogged about the Girls soccer team at Greenfield High School. However, what better time than the day before our first game.Β

First off let me recap on last season which finished with a 10-0 loss to Waukesha West in the first round of Regionals and a season record which stood at an abysmal 2-19-2. For a first season I obviously wasn't best pleased with the overall record, but if you take into account we started 8 freshmen most games and didn't have a actual goalkeeper I probably couldn't set our sights much higher. That's all I want to recap on Last season.

This season has started strongly with a lot more hard work put into the team and more players to fill key roles on the team. We do have a goalkeeper, for just starting to play she I picking things up rather quickly and she has good hands, by the end of the season I'm sure she will be a great addition to this team. We have three freshmen, all very talented and eager to make a good impression on our conference. We have a transfer from Tosa East and a international student one is for sure to be a standout player where ever she is played the other will be one to watch for anyone who underestimates her. Then we are returning 9 players and all have made massive improvements over the off season and have really stepped up their game for this spring season.Β

Tomorrow our season starts with a trip to Madison La Follette. This will be a rematch of the game last season where La Follette won 3-0. La Follette Graduated the Gatorade Wisconsin player of the year in Morgan La Plant but should still prove to be a stern test for a newly improved team. I have high but I think realistic and attainable goals for this team and I think that a 10 win season is not out of our grasp and even a regional final game/championship would be at the peak of my expectations. I hope you follow as I give detailed analysis of the games on Greenfield Patch and a forecast for all our games!

I hope to see you at the pitch!
