Greenfield High School to Present 'Oklahoma!'

Greenfield High School will present Rogers and Hammerstein's "Oklahoma!" in the Performing Arts Center Nov. 30, Dec. 1, Dec. 7 and Dec. 8 at 7 p.m.

Greenfield High School will present Rogers and Hammerstein’s “Oklahoma!” in the Performing Arts Center Nov. 30, Dec. 1, Dec. 7 and Dec. 8 at 7 p.m.

There will be a matinee performance on Dec. 9 at 2 p.m.

Oklahoma! is the first musical written by the famous duo of Rogers and Hammerstein and features such favorites as Oh What a Beautiful Morning, Surrey with the Fringe on Top, and, of course, Oklahoma.

The musical was first performed in 1943 and earned an Academy Award in 1955. Set in Oklahoma Territory outside the town of Claremore in 1906, Oklahoma! tells the story of cowboy Curly McLain and his courting of farm girl Laurey Williams. The musical also features a secondary story, the romance of cowboy Will Parker and his flirting fiance, Ado Annie.

Tickets for this family favorite are $9 for adults and $7 for students and seniors.  Advanced ticket orders will be available for purchase in the Performing Arts Center box office from 5–6 p.m., and will continue through Nov. 29.
