Hawks' Middle School Hoops Team Wins Conference Tournament

The boys basketball team capped off its season with three straight wins in the conference tournament at South Milwaukee.

The future of the Greenfield High School boys basketball team could be bright.

On Jan. 24-25, the Greenfield Middle School's eighth-grade boys’ basketball team won the Junior Southeast Conference Tournament at South Milwaukee High School.

The squad finished 10-3 overall, including three straight victories in the conference tournament. In the tournament, they made eight 3-pointers and defeated Oak Creek, 56-33, in the first round; edged the Lake Denoon Timberwolves, 36-35, in the semifinals; and knocked off crosstown rival Whitnall, 37-31, in the championship game.

"They showed tremendous heart and toughness to become champions," said coach and middle school teacher Joe Harkins. "It will be fun to see what they can do next year at the high school level."

Players included Jared Davis, Drew Kassel, Kyle Jablonski, Rudy Rodriguez, Donovan Reasby, Tyler Ahlborn, Elijah Valero, Ezekiel Banks, Nate King, Parker Panich, Mark Swider and Carson Hoppe.
