Markowiak's 18 Points Leads Whitnall Girls Hoops Team to Win
The Falcons tallied a 49-39 victory over Delavan-Darien.
Ashley Markowiak's 18 points and contributions from Ann Marie Bay and Elena Busalacchi gave girls basketball team the edge it needed in a nonconference game Friday.
Whitnall improved to 2-1 with a 49-39 victory over Delavan-Darien.
Bay had 11 points and Busalacchi grabbed a team-high nine rebounds, for the Falcons, who ended the first half with 7-2 spurt that gave them a 25-17 lead.
"We played a consistent game; I thought our transition and defense improved from last week's games," Whitnall coach Keith Larson said. "Our point guards Lydia Pincsak and Lizzy Menden pushed the ball and got our break going. It was good to have Ann Marie back as she is an aggressive player and creates opportunities."
