Palama Eliminated From School Board Race

More than 25 percent of registered voters turn out for election.

Political newcomer Paul Palama was ousted from the Greenfield School Board race as results from Tuesday's primary trimmed the list of candidates from five to four for the two open seats to be decided in the April 5 spring election.

Former school board president Pam Sierzchulski was the primary's top vote-getter with 1,402 votes. She was followed by incumbent Bruce Bailey, the current board president, with 1,231 votes, and the city's fire chief Russell Spahn, who had 1,196 votes.

Incumbent Donald Almquist, the current vice president, survived the primary by placing fourth with 1,143 votes. Palama was fifth with 739.
