Superintendent Shares His Thoughts with Senator Mary Lazich

Many of you already know that the Greenfield and Whitnall school district websites are loaded with valuable information.

You can find out the latest happenings at all the area schools, find teacher contact information and keep track of school board agendas and meeting minutes.

As a reporter/editor, I often troll the sites for story ideas, looking for a student to highlight as a Whiz Kid or preview an upcoming event.

The other day I came across a link that led to a question posed from State Senator Mary Lazich, a Republican who represents Greenfield and voted in favor of Governor Scott Walker's budget-repair bill and budget proposal, sent via email to Greenfield Superintendent Conrad Farner.

In short, Lazich wanted to know how the proposed budget would impact the school district. Farner's response was thorough and detailed, and not only painted the bleak future the district is likely in for thanks in large part to revenue limit reduction, but also offered suggestions as to how the state could repair its public school system.

The emails were exchanged about a month ago, but if you have a few minutes, Farner's responses are a good read and shine some light on what Greenfield, and other districts are up against.
