Greenfield School District residents have about three weeks to submit applications to join the school board, now that the search to replace Dave Richlen has begun.
The Greenfield School Board vacancy came about after Richlen . His term on the seven-member board would have expired in April 2013.
Board President Bruce Bailey initiated the application process at Monday's Board meeting at the . Interested candidates must submit a written letter of interest and are strongly encouraged to include a resume to Board Clerk Cathy Walsh no later than 4 p.m. July 16.
“Although we probably want to hurry to get someone in here, we also need a chance for people to be notified that there is an opening,” Walsh said.
Applications can be submitted in person or mailed to Mrs. Cathy Walsh, School Board Clerk School, District of Greenfield Board of Education and Administration Center, 4850 S. 60th St., Greenfield, WI 53220
Once applications are collected, the Board is expected to interview candidates and then vote in a candidate with a majority vote of 4-2 or better. That candidate would serve out Richlen’s remaining term, and the seat would be up for election next spring.
The Board has to determine what tiebreaker policies should be in place should a vote finish 3-3.
The Board could also agree to leave the seat vacant if no strong candidate emerges.
No timetable was set beyond the July 16 deadline.
